If You’re Not Working on Yourself, You’re Fooling Yourself

One of the few stories daddy told me about his grandfather stayed with me like a tattoo.

“You’re never too old to learn.”

His grandfather said that on his death bed.

I remember thinking at the time that it meant I would be in school until I died! That wasn’t appealing. It wasn’t until I graduated with my masters that I realized the next set of learning was on me. Since then, there’s been books, online courses, certifications, documentaries, and of course, travel. I’ve trying many projects and failed often but every situation always offered a new lesson. Every time I ask for growth, it comes with the responsibility of learning. Promotions. New opportunities. Business best practices. I can’t just wish the knowledge into my head. I have to seek it out. You do too.

When I started Bags Plus Some, it was because of my interest in e-commerce. It didn’t take long to fall in love with the multiple components of running an online business. I’m not jet setting (yet!), but I’m always learning.

So again I say, if you’re not working on yourself, you’re only fooling yourself.
